As you all know Google plus one will soon start showing next to display ads on your page. This could mean Google Adsense ads getting more relevant, more click and higher earnings in the long run. However if you are not comfortable with the idea you can always opt out from this feature.
Google has given some examples on how the +1 on Adsense will work. But I can give you many examples where this feature becomes useless. Assume you are looking for a BlackBerry Torch 9860 and you find an amazing ad, you then +1 it. Now your friend who is also looking for a mobile phone and is logged into his Google account will see the same ad that you +1’d, however your friend will not click it because he is looking for an Android phone. Your site also miss out a chance of showing related Android ad which more likely would have been clicked.
In some situations the +1 on AdSense will work, I do agree but I think it would be best to show ads related to content rather based on user endorsement or maybe a combination of both contextual and user endorsement.
How can publishers opt out from Google Plus one on Adsense
- Google +1 on Adsense is already active by default.
- Login to your Adsense Account.
- Go to Allow & Block Ads.
- In Blocking Options choose Advanced settings.
- Look for Social Ads Preference (Un-Check it).
