Another 1GHz powered Micromax A54 also called Smarty 3.5 for its 3.5 inch screen running on Android 2.3 OS (Gingerbread) shows off on the Micromax website. The price details are not known but I believe it will be under Rs. 5K.
Micromax A116 with quad core processor will be launched within few weeks and for this reason we are seeing so many new outdated handsets being launched, silently. The full specifications of Smarty 3.5 are not yet updated on the Micromax website.
What we know for now is that the Smarty A54 comes with single core 1GHz processor. Probably with 256MB RAM and 202MB internal storage with micro SD support. The handset looks good with 3 touch sensitive buttons on the front side. For connectivity there is Wi-Fi, Bluetooth. Being a low cost handset I doubt if it will support built in GPS receiver. The handset does support the 3G network (you can see the 3G logo in the image below on the phone).
There is a 3MP rear camera without LED flash support. Videos can be recorded. The A54 comes with 1300 mAh battery that is sufficient for the hardware / OS and you can expect a talktime of about 4 hours and standby time of around 170 hours.

vinay, i think u see 132 mb that is internal memory. 256 is ram which u find in settings>application>runing application.
there u will see ur exact RAM.
no my frnd i know it is has internal memory is 181 m but thid phn has only 128 mb ram i hav checked in settings/app/running services it is showing only 128 mb total RAM i think micromax has done frod with uss becz my frnd has canvas 2 which has 512 ram his phn showing proper 512 mb ram i have also filed case against them in consumer court for fake information on website this fone even nt playing angrybird propery and uc browsrr also automatically off due to less ram error.

@T.j. If 3g is repuired, go for Karbonn a5 or a5+,whicheves is cheaper. If 3g not repuired go for micromax a65, full value for money as it is said to have 512 mb ram. Don’t expect battery life from mmx.

@rz, micromax a57 is now out of stock on some websites. A57 is costlier also by a few hundred rupees as it has 1400 mah instead of smalles 1300 mah in a54. Also a54 has soc as msm7225aa instead of 7225a, not sure what it means.

This is sure marketing strategy from lava. It is cheating the customers by saying it has qualcomm krait processor. Because qualcomm krait processor is having cortex a15 processor, which is high end.
And this is qualcomm s4 play which is having dual cortex a5 cores. So this is same processor as the videocon a30.
So guys beware of this..
Balaji, Qualcomm krait processor is the 2nd generation Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor.. KRAIT has cortex a15 architecture.. Higher performance than snapdragon.. Lets see what they really come up with.. If its Krait then it will be a awsome phone in this range..

Any model will do just look for 1GHz processor and 512MB RAM that will ensure smoother performance. E.g. Karbonn A15.
A15 cost almost 6k. I guess he can look for Karbonn A5+.
