LG Optimus L3 Dual E405 is now available on flipkart for Rs. 8,299. This is a dual SIM phone (GSM+GSM) that runs on Android 2.3 OS. This is different from the LG Optimus L3 E400 that come with a single SIM slot and is about 1,000 Rs. cheaper.
There are quite a few changes on the Optimus L3 Dual E405 when compared with the LG Optimus L3 E400 model. The Dual E405 too comes with a cortex A5 processor clocked at 800MHz with Adreno 200 GPU. The Android 2.3 OS runs the show on a 384MB RAM with 1GB internal storage. There is the micro SD slot to add up that extra bit of space (via external microSD card up to 32GB).
This handset sports a 3.2 inch TFT capacitive LCD touchscreen display with 262K colours over a 320×240 pixels resolution (QVGA). This dual SIM android phone weighs 108 grams with 11.85mm thickness.
The LG Optimus L3 Dual E405 is social networking ready, supports 3G (HSDPA 3.6Mbp), EDGE / GPRS (Class 12) and Wi-Fi. Other features are USB; Tethering supported both USB and via Wi-Fi, 3.5mm jack, built in GPS with A-GPS which works seamlessly with Google Maps.
The camera on the Dual E405 has got a slight upgrade to 3.2 Megapixel with autofocus feature. There is no front camera and LED flash. The 1500 mAh battery (Li-ion) lasts for over a month and talktime is also impressive of up to 10 hours. I really don’t understand how the battery performance has increased when the specs are the same and the E405 also come with a slightly bigger screen.

LG Optimus L3 Dual E405 versus LG Optimus L3 E400 – The difference
| LG Optimus L3 Dual E405 | LG Optimus L3 E400 |
| Dual SIM (GSM+GSM) | Single SIM (GSM) |
| 3.2 MP Auto Focus rear camera | 3.0 MP Fixed Focus rear camera |
| Weight = 108 grams | Weight = 109 grams |
The L3 Dual E405 (Dual SIM) price in India is Rs. 8,299 approx Rs. 1K more than the single SIM version. This phone comes with a 1 year warranty. The display resolution is just too low and does not do justice to the price tag, especially when there are other handsets from other brands, cheaper and with better screen resolution.

I have purchased lg e405 but camera quality is not better purchased two day ago can i replace it?
Hi, I am new in android. having a bit confusion in buying my first android device. which one will be better? LG optimus L3 dual or samsung galaxy y duos?? also, is there any problem with the phone getting hung?? will it be better to buy micromax A110? plz reply. thanks in advance..
Thanks Gogi. I did some more google search and found that the main reason is because of the RAM reserved for the integrated Adreno GPU. In PC motherboards with integrated graphics also we face the same problem-I guess that's the same case here.
hi, this is good compare to htc explorer? why? please reply.
Though E405 is better than HTC explorer (faster processor, good internal storage, higher battery mAh) the screen resolution on HTC is HVGA 320 x 480 Pixels which is much better. If I were to choose I would go with HTC because of the screen resolution.
Hello gogi,
Thanks for your review of LG E405. I purchased this mobile 3 days back from Homeshop18(Rs 8299 in their website. However, I had a HS18 discount coupon from my earlier purchases- so got it at Rs 7799). Its a very nice phone with good look. Operation is very smooth. I read in a few websites that the screen resolution is not good- so was a bit worried but I couldn't find any such issue. Camera is not so good in Low Light. However, outdoor photo is good. Not sure whether Auto focus is there- how to verify?
One issue I am finding is that; In apps manager when I check the total RAM(used RAM+free RAM), it is giving only 302MB RAM, and not 384MB RAM as mentioned in spec. Do you think it's a problem with my mobile, or is this same issue with all android phones? Even without running any application I can see more than 200MB is used by Android OS itself!
Keypad is good in landscape mode. Being an user of simple old nokia phones, need some time to get used to the keypad in portrait mode!
Call quality is good. Audio(music) quality with provided LG headphone is extremely good(almost like the Sony Ericsson Walkman phones or may be even better quality). However, speakerphone quality is not so good- very noisy with high volume.
Video playback is smooth, but not able to play some of the Mp4 files I had- probably need to install some other viewers/codecs.
Since it is a newly launched phone, difficult to find accessories like screen guard etc. However, the phone comes with a free soft case to protect from falls.
Not yet tested the battery backup fully. Seems to be good till now.
Aloke, on android some RAM is used by the OS so its normal to see a lesser RAM as mentioned in the spec.
