iBerry to launch Auxus AX03G tablet for Rs. 9,990

by Gogi Rana on July 6, 2012 · 18 comments

iBerry had already announced the Auxus AX03G tablet with built in 3G that will be launched in 2 days. They already have setup a page on their site with a reverse countdown to the launch date.

Like every other 3G enabled tablet the AX03G supports phone calling, SMS and high speed net access using 3G networks. This tab comes powered by 1GHz ARM cortex A8 processor with Mali 400 GPU along with VPU that handles the video processing part.

The display screen is 7 inches capacitive touch with 800×400 pixels resolution. This tab is capable of rendering 2D videos to 3D on ordinary TV – do note you do need 3D glass to watch 3D content. iBerry website claims that the tablet comes with 24GB storage this actually includes the built in 8GB NAND memory (internal storage) plus the extra storage space using the MicroSD slot. So if you are using a 16GB card then the today memory is 16+8GB=24GB.

Android 4.0.4 (ICS) OS comes loaded with another unique face unlock feature, it is kind of a face recognition app that identify the user and unlocks the screen automatically instead of the traditional swipe to unlock. The key highlight is the built in 3G slot for phone functionality – unlocked so you can use it with any SIM card. There is built in speaker, mic that you can use for making / receiving calls or connect any Bluetooth device thanks to the built in Bluetooth support. There is a front and rear camera which is not of a very good resolution.

iBerry Auxus AX03G features & Specifications

  • 1GHz CPU Cortex A8 (ARM), 400 Mali GPU, VPU.
  • ICS (Android 4.0.4).
  • 1GB RAM DDR3, 8GB internal storage, microSD support (Max 32GB).
  • 7 inch LCD screen (5 point multi touch) 800 x 400 resolution.
  • Voice calls (GSM 2G / 3G), SMS and 3G surfing supported.
  • Wi-Fi, USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 2.0.
  • Dual camera 2MP rear, 0.3 MP front camera.
  • Google play access, Office suite, Facebook, YouTube, twitter, Adobe flash 11.1 supported and more.
  • 3.5mm jack, stereo speakers, mini USB port, mic built in, mini HDMI and MicroSD slot.
  • 4000mAh battery (25 hours music playback, 5 hours video playback and up to 6 hours net surfing).

This definitely looks like a better option as compared with Wammy plus 3G tab and the Xtab 3G. This tab not only beats the other 3G enabled tab in terms of features but also the price. However the only thing missing is the built in GPS.

Trust me guys, I had a problem with the tablet. It was not charging. I got a pick up from the Aramex courier. I did wait to pack till the courier guy reached my office, just to make him aware that there is no physical damage to the product (as I know some manufacturers cheat consumers telling that warranty repair is not possible cause of physical damage). In front of the courier guy I packed the product and gave him. After almost a week I received a call from Iberry telling that the product they received is having physical damage and no warranty is possible. I asked for photos and was shocked to see the state of my tablet. They asked me half the price of the tablet to repair it. I tried to explain them all what happened and the worst ever excuse I heard from them was that as the courier cover is not damaged, I myself would have done the damage.

I was not able to convince them that a pressure on the top of the table (if this is transported along with other heavy goods & not as fragile materials) this will be the problem. After all it was a pickup from their side.

I had used the tablet only for 3 days before the phone suddenly got switch off. Being a techie I knew the problem would be with the motherboard. This might have been a costly repair for them. They kept me waiting for almost 4 months after which they told that they are reshipping the item.

When I received the item there was even more damage than what they showed in the photos. Although I do not clearly know what happened, I would suggest you never go with these people.

The warranty service for Samsung is how good you should know. Try go with some product like that. You might pay 1K-2K more, but will get a very good product, peace of mind & good service.

Considering cost and speed, Is it better to buy a tab without sim slot(and use dongle for 3G) or tab with sim slot(I use airtel sim card)?

Hi Gogi,
I’m using this tab since its launch. The only problem I’m facing is that it have very poor 2G/ 3G signal catching capacity. Few days back I updated its firmware. But no change. Apart from that this tab is excellent in all respects. I bought this tab after long waiting of Ubislate 7+ (got refund) and PRASHI tablet (no refund. I lost my money).

I would like to whether it can be used as an E Book reader.

Ashok, yes you need to download the app from Google play its free. But if you will be spending more time reading books on the tab then get a tab with minimum 1024×600 pixels resolution. Not that you cannot read on the 800×480 pixels but it will be more clearer and comfortable on a higher resolution tablet.

Sir,

Thank your for you kind replay. Can you suggest any budget tablet have 1024 x 600 resolution

gogi July 29, 2012 at 1:27 am

Ashok, There are few 1024 resolution tabs but not that price friendly. If you can spend around 19K then go for Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 or wait for few months probably by end of august.
