Google to shut down Adsense for hosted domains

by Gogi Rana on February 23, 2012 · 5 comments

Bad news for publishers who are making some money from Adsense for domains, Google is going to pull the plug for Adsense on hosted domains on April 18. This means from 18th April you will not be able to generate money from your undeveloped domains.

From March 21st the “create new hosted domains” will cease to exist and from April 18 the Google Adsense for hosted domains will become inactive. On June 27 the hosted domains link will be totally removed from Adsense account.

Publishers who are using Adsense for Hosted domains may already have received an email with subject line “Retiring Adsense for Domains in your Account”. The email clearly mention when the particular service will be terminated.

Ever since Google launched the Adsense for hosted domains many domain owners started using the services and did make some money from their idle domains. Some experts believed it was a bad move by Google. Adsense revolves around quality content and it did not make sense populating ads on a domain that had no content, in fact how could a domain that has no content qualify for quality content – the basis on which AdSense works.

Adsense on hosted domains will shut down from April 18

Hi Sangram,
Hosted domains here are those domains that are not developed (idle). You might have seen many domains that are not developed (also called domain parking) and just point to a single page with ads.

This will not effect the list you mentioned.
