Google recently announced that starting October 2011 all display ads from Adsense will feature the Google Plus One (+1) button next to it. With +1 on Adsense ads users will be able to endorse ads they like. These ads will then be seen by their friends who have logged into their Google Account.
According to Google, the +1 on Adsense will not only help users endorse ads but will also help publishers get relevant ads on their site that are likely to be clicked and in turn earn higher revenue over time. Adsense for mobile and content will start showing the +1’s from October which will be enabled by default.
Ad types such as flash based ads; animated gif and image ads will show the +1 next to it. You can see the example below. I doubt if this will be added to text based ads as there might be more than one listings which could mean more than one +1’s, which may look kind of weird.
Though the +1 related features and social annotation in Adsense ads will be enabled by default, which already is, if you check your AdSense account, if you prefer you can always opt out. But I would suggest you give it a try and see if it has any impact on the earnings.
It is not just the publishers but the Google AdWords Advertisers too can opt out of Google +1 button feature. If you are an advertiser check out my post on how to opt out of Google +1 on AdWords.
Google recently made the Google Plus one open to all and already started advertising on its google.com search home page. Google +1 is here to compete with the most popular social networking site, Facebook. Google is really serious about the +1 and its action speaks for itself.
