Byond B63 dual core handset with Jelly Bean for Rs. 9999

by Gogi Rana on January 16, 2013 · 46 comments

Byond B63 a dual core dual SIM smartphone with a 4.5 inch screen and running on Jelly Bean OS, now listed on Flipkart with a price tag of Rs. 9,999. Suddenly we are seeing too many dual core handsets being launched.

And why not, the dual core handsets will be outdated soon with quad core models, and you just need one such handset. Anyway those waiting for dual core handsets, well now there are just too many options, but ironically it is difficult to get some or all of these handsets as they run out of stock pretty soon.

The Byond B63 is powered by a 1.2GHz dual core processor with dual SIM capabilities. The handset weighs 164 grams with 10.7 mm thickness. The main highlight is the Jelly Bean OS that it comes loaded with.

The TFT LCD Screen is 4.5 inches with supported resolution of 950×540 pixels (qHD) and also supports 5 point multi touch. The B63 comes with 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage. Micro SD card is supported.

Other features included are 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, micro USB port and 3.5 mm jack. The handset gets power from a 2000 mAh battery. There are two cameras a 0.3 MP front and an 8MP rear auto focus with LED flash.

For the price this definitely looks like a good buy and that too with Jelly Bean OS. You also get leather pouch within the box pack. The Celkon A200 is also available on Flipkart for Rs. 7,999.

  • 4.5 inch TFT capacitive screen with qHD resolution (960×540 pixels).
  • 8MP rear AF camera with LED flash and front 0.3MP camera.
  • 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, micro USB and 3.5 mm jack.
  • Sensors : G-sensors (there should be proximity and other sensors too not confirmed).
  • 2000 mAh battery.
  • Price Rs. 9,999.

Sir, Thanks for the review of B63. I want to by MMX A110, but it is not available in the market. So I am thinking of B63. Is it advisable to buy B63 instead of A110? Thanks in advance.

Hi, Gogi. I am first time posting on your wall. I have been referring your site for new launches and daily updates… I really appreciate you for updating on these various mobiles on daily basis. I am planning to purchase this Byond B63 mobile but having confusion in the brand value… request you to give full depth review of this phone if possible…

I am using this phone. In the 3 days I have had this in my hands, I can say the following
Pros
- Cheapest Jellybean phone in the market
- Good 4.5 inch screen with high resolution (better than Samsung Grand Duos)
- Enough processing power to run most apps, suits my needs to the T
- Not much battery drainage – Used phone for 4 hrs with 3G data / installing & testing apps – battery went from 75% to 60% only.
Cons:
- Camera isn’t so good, a 3MP camera gives better quality than the 8MP camera this phone has
- Processor is reported in the specs as a 1.2 Ghz Dual core, though online benchmarking tools (Quadrant) show it to be 1Ghz Dual core
- Phone heats up very fast on using mobile data / maps
- 720p videos do not play well

Hey please tell me the bench marking scores and gaming review. Is 512 mb ram sufficient enough? Also, hows the sound quality?

hi gogi, Does 512 ram is sufficient for running jelly bean for this hand set , i heard that for smooth running the jelly bean hand 1gb ram is must, is it correct?

Reply

gogi January 21, 2013 at 5:57 pm

Prasad, don’t think 1GB is required, JB can work on 512MB also.

Hi Gogi,

Everyone’s now jumping onto the dual core bandwagon. Jelly bean, out of the box is going to be a USP.
Looking forward to your review on Videcon a30 and Lava Xolo a700 & a800 and also Mediatek vs Qualcomm.

Waiting for your review, jellybean in new for budget phones and buying this phone can make me hide its brand name from friends but im ready for it if Jellybean is worth that risk, does it? pls do a review as soon as possible

Hi Gogi,
Why are the mobile companies not providing smartphones with 1GB RAM instead of giving us phones with 512MB RAM?? We won’t mind an increase in price around Rs.11,000 to Rs.12,000. We require phones with sufficient RAM memory to run applications smoothly.

Reply

gogi January 17, 2013 at 12:10 pm

I guess the cost, and even on 512RAM the performance is really good no difference between 1GB and 512MB but noticeable only when you multi task more or play games.

Jeet, I am aware of it, but all you see is speculations nothing confirmed yet. We don’t know if it will be 5 inch phone or a lower screen one in which case it will not be called canvas. So wait.

Dear Mr. Gogi

I am very much confused with following three phones
1. Lava 501:— Got big screen. Better battery but ICS n low brand value
2. Bryond B63:… Smaller scrreen size than Lava 501 but its a jelly Bean but highes processing speed. Little bit higher priced than Lava 501, BUT UNKNOWN BRAD VALUE. No past performance review.
3. MMX Canvas 2:… Higher Price but bigger Brand Value still an ICS

Whcih one to bye?? Please suggest.
If possible please reply on my email also.

Thanks and Regards,

Pankaj W.

Mine does not heat up!. It does have 4gb internal memory, 2 is usable. It also syncs facebook contacts. Add facebook account, go to settings-> accounts-> select facebook, and select sync on..

Don’t spread false information. I already have one, and if i need one more, I will not hesitate to buy byond b63. Happy with it

Jagadeesh April 27, 2013 at 3:05 am

Every one or the other gives false information just to bring confusions among others though inside they feel the product is good. BYOND B63 is a fantastic unit and doesnt have any flaw till date. Its one of best successful model of Byond.
