BSNL Pantel T-Pad IS701C tablet launched for Rs. 4999

BSNL and Pantel have now launched the BSNL Pantel T-Pad IS701C tablet that is priced at Rs. 4,999 and runs on Android 4.0 OS. This tab sails on a 1GHz processor with 512MB RAM.

The older version – Penta T-Pad IS701R came with a resistive touch screen and was a complete failure in terms of delivery as well as performance and after support. The new Tab called the T-Pad IS701C, the ‘C’ here stands for capacitive screen has good features and performance wise will be much better than the IS701R version, however delivery and after support will be the main concern.

As compared with the older 701 resistive version this capacitive touchscreen tablet houses a 1GHz processor with 512MB DDR3 RAM along with 4GB of internal storage. Now this is much better than the IS701R and hence performance wise it will be as good as other low cost tablets like Xtab A10, WammyZen Mobile Ultratab A100 etc.

BSNL Pantel has kept the price tag at under Rs. 5,000 which makes it a good buy; however the bad reviews with reference to delivery / after support may keep most of the users away. On the positive side the BSNL Pantel T-Pad IS701C tablet comes with USB as well as mini USB port, Wi-Fi, a front VGA camera, G-sensor and 3.5 mm Audio jack.

This is a basic low cost tab so please ignore the GPS and Bluetooth feature. There is no built in 3G either but you can access it via 3G dongle (GSM or CDMA). The front camera is placed on the right top side there is also the HDMI port (720p). Display screen supports multi-touch with 800×480 pixels resolution.

For the price of Rs. 4,999 the BSNL Pantel T-Pad IS701C looks like a good option but it seems the company has not learned from its previous experiences, there is no buy now option and the process may be similar to what users had experienced when they booked the first T-Pad. You can book the BSNL Pantel T-Pad IS701C (Pre-book) from Pantel.in.

Don’t buy this type of tablet because parts are not available in market (calibration pad, display like that).

The BSNL Pantel T-Pad IS701C may not support 3G dongles of the CDMA type (Tata photon, Reliance, MTS etc.) – I wrote to the customercare about the dongles supported and their reply is all GSM related…
