Android 4.3 update now available for Samsung Galaxy Note II

Good news for those waiting for the Android 4.3 update on the Samsung Galaxy Note II, the update is now available. Just head to the settings, about and tap the software update, then check for the update and it should start downloading the 700MB 4.3 OS.

I am using the Galaxy Note II and have already initiated the update, it is currently downloading, check the progress via images, I will update with more images as when it happens. It’s over the air update, you will need a good Wi-Fi connection or 3G connection (do note the size is around 700 MB just in case if you are planning to use the 3G connection).

With 4.3 running on Galaxy Note II the handset will become compatible with the Galaxy Gear Smartwatch. The new updated will improve performance, come with new keyboard, lock screen, some new camera modes and more.

Samsung had rolled out 4.3 updates for the Galaxy S3 but after complaints from many users they had suspended the update on S3. This would have delayed the 4.3 update on Note 2, but to my surprise its finally here.

I hope to see more of the features as seen on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. For now the update is downloading, stay tuned for more on this.

Updated is completed, the handset seems to be working fine. The S-Pen features are the same as it was before, no new features from Note 3 has been implemented. There some new options, lock screen etc.

Key highlights

  • Compatibility with gear.
  • Overall performance improvement.
  • KNOX feature added for consumers.
  • Improved UI and adjustments.
  • Security enhancements.

My personal data was intact during and after the update.

Hi, I also updated but am getting a very good battery life. I have stopped using 2X battery app that I was before the 4.3 update. I think it could be some issue with some app that may be loading the CPU and causing power drain. I would suggest check the apps that you are not using and remove them, also check the settings -> battery and see which app is consuming more juice.

    Hi Gogi,

I have been experiencing some sort of lagging after updating to 4.3 version.
Did you also observed the same in your note 2 aswell?

    Thanks.

Oh, well in that case better visit the service center, they will flash it with the new OS, all data will be erased.

Check the package you used for rooting your phone,it must be having an option to unroot as well, i am using Karbonn a9+, rooted it and had to flash the phone as 3G network was not showing up, the superuser app already had unrooting option which i selected and successfully unrooted the phone getting the phone flashed under warranty.

ALternatively you can check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=900875, hope this helps.
